A planned suburb that kept growing
Thornton was named for Governor Dan Thornton. It started as a planned suburb off Washington Street in the 1950s, and the city’s neighborhoods get newer as you head north toward E-470.

The homes
Original neighborhoods in the south and newer ones in the north. Steve has sold homes across Thornton, from townhomes to newer two-story homes near 164th Avenue.

Recreation and the N Line
The Carpenter Recreation Center on Colorado Boulevard and the Trail Winds Recreation Center on Holly Street anchor the city’s west and north. Denver Premium Outlets sits just off I-25, and the N Line, opened in 2020, runs from Original Thornton/88th, Thornton Crossroads/104th and Eastlake/124th to Union Station.
